AI, Journalism and Terrorist Attacks

The relationship between terrorism and the media has been analysed from a sociological perspective in terms of the social construction of terror. In this framework, violent acts are not viewed as isolated events, but rather as media messages with political and symbolic significance (Weimann, 2006; Lombardi, 2016). The media act as involuntary multipliers of the symbolic efficacy of terror, influencing perceptions, security policies and collective reactions.
