About Places and People
摘要
Place is not only about how we share commonplaces with each other, how place is part of our collective memory and how we become part of this memory through place. Place is also about how we use and experience a place in and through its stones and atmospheres, i.e. its material form as well as its affective tonality. If place is not just a blank canvas onto which we can project our preferred conceptions of it, since it always already enables certain attitudes, uses and experiences rather than others through its concrete form, then it also becomes relevant to argue that we are part of place even before it becomes what we make it.
