“Nelle pause della brezza il silenzio si posava sul silenzio”

  • Simone Pettine

摘要

Light, wind, sea. Francesco Biamonti’s novels are said to contain some recurring image-words, actual semantic focal points transcending the mere descriptive or denotative element; even the casual reader quickly becomes aware of it2. The titles of the four novels published during the author’s lifetime, however, are not occasional at all, especially considering Biamonti’s modus operandi: if a single page could keep him busy for days and days in search of the perfect expressive form, of a precise word, of the clear sentence in its exactness, the attention he had to pay to the choice of those few terms aimed at representing the identity of the books was crucial.
