Gusts of Mystery and Madness in Italian Fantastic Narratives

Impetuous winds disrupt, devastate and destroy. Yet, even in their mildest form, they can alter the observer’s senses, giving rise to a visual and auditory dynamism that blurs and renders fluid the contours and figures of objects and people, thereby producing an uncertain and approximate perception of reality. Such uncertainty of factual data can also contaminate the gazer and lead to a feeling of identity loss.
