The Beginning of Andenken

Among the numerous research papers on Andenken, the poem has six extended interpretations.1 Most of them, with the exception of Reuß’s work, do not analyze and interpret the poem’s meter.2 As a result some possible interpretations of individual verses and basic ideas, such as the sympathy (Mitempfinden) of poetic Andenken in relation to Susette Gontard’s death, one of the main topics examined here, may have been disregarded.
