The Concept of Presence
摘要
In his A Letter to a Hostage, Antoine de Saint-Exupery provides the reader with a description of an experience of presence. He recounts how a person and his surroundings become a tangible presence through the exchange of smiles and the subsequent softening of faces. Seemingly unimportant and transient, the sudden brightening of faces appears nevertheless essential, arousing in both persons the awareness of trust, sympathy, and peace.
