Reni Eddo-Lodge is a London-based journalist. She was born in London in 1989 to a Nigerian mother. She is an award-winning journalist, author, and podcaster.2 As is the case with Adichie, Eddo-Lodge’s digital activity too can be traced to the first decade of the twenty-first century. Analogous to Adichie, Eddo-Lodge too employs the latest social media tools to give herself a greater presence in the digital sphere becoming in return a well-known author on the Internet. Since the age of nineteen, Eddo-Lodge has been communicating and relating first-hand experiences and political discourses on the Internet through her website, her blog, and her social media accounts. Differently from Adichie’s character Ifemelu who started her blog with the intent to fill a cultural void and feel included in the host country, Eddo-Lodge generated her blog in her home country focusing on feminism and exposing structural racism. Also, unlike Ifemelu’s American fictional blog, which offered commentary and the opportunity for discussion among the blog’s readers, Eddo-Lodge’s blog is a filter-type web page that directs her audience to her Instagram and X(Twitter) accounts as well as to other blogs and websites on the Internet.
