It is obvious that a monoperspectival approach cannot do justice to the phenomenon of the genius loci, neither lifeworldly nor methodologically. For example, I was already consciously working with a layer-historical method in 2004; creatively following Nicolai Hartmann’s ontology of layers (or strata), which I, however, revised in terms of cultural history. These different historical layers correspond to specific modes of access (mythico-archaical, Olympic-mythical, Christian-medieval, modern-secular, rationalistic-technical, ...) and to specific human-place relationships (relationship of integration, relationship of structuring, relationship of superstructuring, relationship of excessive planning and overplanning – see Chapter 2).
