The reconstruction of the CS project scenario in Italy is preceded by a phase of implementation of targeted actions, which are included in a mixed-method approach. The sequential exploratory design (see Chapter 3) involves, as a first step, the use of interviews to engage the previously identified project representatives (experts and academics). This is in line with the need to answer the primary research question, which is: What are the motivations that drive Italian scientists to collaborate with citizens? And what are the profiles of these scientists?
