A spectre haunts contemporary society: the pervasive malaise of labour. This condition is not exclusively a byproduct of economic transformations, nor can it be reduced to a question of psychophysical health alone. Conversely, it is symptomatic of deeper political and gnoseological metamorphoses in the very organisation of labour. The malaise that saturates today’s labour landscape is intertwined with a broader process of progressive dehumanisation — one that operates through mechanisms of alienation (and beyond alienation), fragmentation, and hyper-rationalisation, rendering the individual increasingly powerless within a system that demands total productivity while simultaneously eroding the very conditions of subjectivity and agency.
