This study explores the relationship between State and religion, examining the approaches States take to the former, ranging from theocracies and State religions to the complete separation of Church and State in agnostic, pseudo-liberal democracies. The analysis shows that no State can disregard the religion of its people, as this would contradict the fundamental purpose of the State itself, which is to secure the political existence of its citizens. The basic nature of the State is inseparable from its relationship with religion, and this relationship is fundamental to the State’s ability to achieve its goals.
