The State is a concrete activity of the spirit, and as such it is a developing process of historiography. The histories of religion, economics, science, and other fields are abstract because they are histories of ideal or moments and forms of spiritual activity. Spirit is reflected concretely only in the State. Philosophy alone is as concrete as the State, but the determinacy that allows philosophy to achieve effective concreteness cannot be found outside the history of the State. Consequently, the history of philosophy progresses in tandem with the history of the State, as long as it is not perceived as a mere extension of theoretical concepts that must subsequently be subsumed into the historical process of the State in order to become the authentic concrete logic of the self-concept.

摘要
