Refusing to Disappear
摘要
As part of her PhD-in-Practice research at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (2018–2023), French curator and writer Virginie Bobin initiated a series of conversations with interpreters, translators, civil servants, and non-profits working with exiled persons, and more specifically asylum claimants, in France, to investigate a translation’s concrete political implications in legal settings of border crossing. This led to the writing of a theatrical script, conceived as an interactive tool for a collective reflection on the role of interpreters in this highly scripted context.
