Ezidiness and Identity

This chapter will set down some important aspects of Ezidi identity, the ‘base’ levels, those shared and received most often, as performed and expressed by the women with whom I spoke. A discussion of both outsider and insider definitions of Ezidi identity is followed by the practices and expressions of Shingali women themselves, often in response to the earlier descriptions and ascriptions.
