As pointed out in the introduction but also throughout the review of the state of the art in chapter 2, there are two major observations when it comes to SPR: A) The demand for subtitles is growing which has caused constant changes in terms of subtitling workflows and in the working conditions of professional subtitlers. Especially the introduction of ASR and MT to the process can be expected to influence the effort and cognitive processes involved in the production of the different kinds of required subtitles (but also in the reception of the produced subtitles). However, there is very little empirical evidence on how these processes are impacted (in contrast to evidence from written translation process research).
