In translation process research (TPR) all processes that result in a translation product are studied from different perspectives. Thus, it “seeks to understand translator or interpreter behavior, competence, expertise, the cognitive processes that orient these and the relations between cognition and the translated or interpreted product” (Saldanha & O’Brien, 2014, p. 109, emphasis deleted). It can be separated into translation processes that focus on organizational processes, i.e., workflows and cooperation, and those that focus on mental processes (Göpferich, 2008, p. 1). It needs to be emphasized that both areas cannot be studied in isolation as different workflows and types of cooperation can impact mental processes.
