摘要

As its etymological origin implies, translation (from Latin ‘trans’ [across]) aims at communication that transcends languages and cultures—while simultaneously transferring particular messages through texts. As the focus within translation studies shifted from language to culture during the cultural turn at the end of the 1980s (see also Simon, 1996/2005, p. 7),1 the need to explore important issues related to identity, representation, power, and ideology in language and translation became urgent.
