The employee magazine of the French automobile manufacturer Peugeot represents one of the earliest examples of this internal corporate communication media genre in France. It was published for the company in Sochaux/Montbéliard almost continuously from 1918 to 2010 as a monolingual print version - in French. However, in the issues of the 1970s, a multilingual communication practice emerged, which ended abruptly in the early 1980s. This case study shows that Peugeot used multilingual practices reflecting the linguistic diversity of its workforce in its internal communication as a strategic instrument within a broader crisis management framework. It served as a pragmatic response to the circumstances of the time – initially to retain employees and subsequently to manage workforce reduction.

摘要
