Introduction
摘要
The mood in Arabic refers to verb categories that reflect contextual modalities in which the verb’s action is shaped, such as indicative, subjunctive, jussive, imperative, and energetic. The indicative mood is characteristic of factual statements or straightforward questions, affirmative future tense, and passive indicative. The subjunctive mood reflects an attitude concerning actions such as ambiguity, desire, intent, purpose, attempting, permission, hope, ability, necessity, and command in indirect speech (Ayed, 2003); (Haywood & Nahmad, 1965); (Sadan, 2012). The third is the jussive mood which is restricted in the occurrence and mood of the verb in Arabic under specific circumstances. The imperative mood indicates an attitude of command or needs for action on the part of the speaker that is expressed by unique form (Ryding, 2005). The last mood is energetic and can be derived from the imperfective and imperative (Wright, 1896).
