Taubert’s Kurtzer Entwurff (1727) and Rameau’s Le Maître à danser (1725): A Short Comparison
摘要
In view of the 1727 publication date of Gottfried Taubert’s Kurtzer Entwurff der Nutzbarkeit des künstlichen Tantz-EXERCITII, one can rightly ask whether and to what extent the dance instruction by the Frenchman Pierre Rameau, Le Maître à danser, published barely two years earlier, could be considered a possible source of inspiration for the German dance master. Although he never made the educational trip to France, Taubert was well acquainted with French dance literature―in his Rechtschaffener Tantzmeister (1717), he had even translated into German Feuillet’s dance notation system Chorégraphie (1700).
