The predominant and conspicuous commonality inherent in Islamic fatwās and perspectives directed against the Yezidis lies in the Islamic perception that Yezidis are deemed as infidels and/or apostates engaged in the worship of malevolent entities. Such categorizations granted Muslims the purported right to engage in hostilities against them, justifying acts of aggression and conquest. Consequently, act of killing and the subjugation of Yezidi women and children were considered permissible (ḥalāl), religiously sanctioned and justified within the context of Islam389.
