Integrating new Directions in Translation Education
摘要
The aim of this chapter is to discuss and evaluate the present-day translation education in the context of diversification of translation and language industry in the global business market. Different perspectives of stakeholders in translation education and practice are examined here, aiming to elucidate the skills and knowledge necessary for professional translation work and to see how well these are currently addressed in university programmes. However, the question arises regarding the preparedness of novice translators entering this dynamic job market. Educators must reassess curricula to align with the evolving translation landscape, ensuring graduates are equipped to navigate global markets successfully. Emphasis should also be placed on developing transversal or 21st-century skills alongside translation competence, enhancing graduates’ flexibility and commitment to lifelong learning.
