摘要
Translating decisions, judgments, and submissions from or into Serbian and English was often a challenging job during my time in EULEX, both because of the nature of the texts and because of the unharmonized terminology, which could have grave consequences for the parties before the court. Moreover, as mentioned in this work, it was hard to deal with terms that do not have equivalents in the legal systems in the target language. Every time I consulted the bilingual dictionaries, I became even more confused about the use of the right term. While there is an enormous number of studies in anthropology about the meaning of the term ethnic group and nationality, the concepts and their definitions and translations are still not harmonized in laws and to date no conceptual analysis of the terms in the proposed language combination was performed in Kosovo legislation.
