Mythical and Social Phenomena, Customs, and Events
摘要
Biblical events are enacted either by godly acts or by major biblical characters. Artists’ approach to the Bible produces not only visual depictions of its narratives; their illustrations make visual commentaries that are as poignant as the literary ones. God is never illustrated, and the event is rendered as a supernatural phenomenon. Unique social phenomena and events mark the typical Jewish experience throughout history, and particular historical phenomena and events have influenced and shaped Jewish communities, marking their unique characteristics.
