Unmasking the Matryoshka

  • Ana Marija Spasojević

摘要

Guzel’ Yakhina is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Russophone literature. Each of her novels has attracted numerous fans as well as an apparently equal number of critics. The author’s fictional works delve into the complex history of Soviet repressions, particularly focusing on the experiences of “the little man” under Stalinism. Eizen(2025) marks a shift from Yakhina’s usual depiction of “unknown victims” and explores a new thematic terrain.
