Intermediality in the Selected Cankar’s Narrative Works

Ivan Cankar is the most important Slovenian writer, who created during the period of modernism. He lived from 1876 to 1918 in Vrhnika, Ljubljana and Vienna and also traveled to other cities in Europe. He was interested in all forms of art: visual, literary, theatrical, musical as well as in the social conditions of his time and inner experiences of human beings. His literary works, which have been translated into several languages, first encompassed poetry, then prose and drama as well as essays. He can easily be compared with Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and Franz Kafka.
