Business negotiations are communicative acts in which persuasion is essential to achieving communicative intent. In both import and export contexts, negotiation partners frequently rely solely on business interpreters, making it necessary for prospective interpreters to be trained for such situations. Artificial Intelligence has recently gained prominence in interpreting, particularly through chatbots such as Copilot, raising questions about the appropriateness of these tools in professional and training interpreting settings. This study analyses the suitability of Copilot in two contexts: (a) preparing a wine-import negotiation scenario (German–Spanish) for interpreter training, and (b) performing the interpretation in the same type of negotiation. The performance of human interpreters is compared with that of provided by Copilot. The initial hypothesis posits that Artificial Intelligence lacks the capacity to perform the full range of speech acts required in business settings, and that its inability to do so may hinder the persuasive function central to the business communicative framework.

摘要
