The end of explicability

摘要

If we could explain all phenomena of nature and society, we would not need the concept of emergence. It stands for the inexplicability of properties that arise from spontaneous self-organisation, and contradicting the comprehensive claim to knowledge of science. Emergence acts as a kind of blocking function in cultural evolution against the progression toward a higher degree of knowledge.
