Dangling the carrot

The answer to the question of the meaning of human life is, in terms of content, completely insignificant. Whether one wants to be a Godpleasing person, finds fulfilment dressed as a daisy, or recognises service to the common good as the highest goal, all are accorded equal value. Only the search for meaning as an illusion enables us to act. It stems from the neural logic of causal relationships. For every effect B, we always need a cause A, which often remains an unknown X and must be filled as a null set.
