The evolution of languages

The numerous languages of humankind did not develop independently in local communities. What they have in common is that they developed as a component of neural encoding and evolved in encoded spaces. Which languages dominate, become niche languages or ultimately disappear depends on how accurately they reflect innovative processes in society.
