Comparative Insurance Law: Some New Perspectives
摘要
Together with Professor Helmut Heiss (University of Zürich), Professor Manfred Wandt has done me the honor of involving me in various academic projects. I thus became included in the working group that has prepared the PEICL-project (Principles of European Insurance Contract law) and later on also in the PRICL-project (Principles of International Reinsurance Contract Law), two highly important academic projects of which he was a leading and co-founding member. As present chairman of the prestigious Karlsruher Forum, he invited me, as had done his illustrious predecessors, and allowed me to continue my participation in its meetings, which in my view can be considered as highlights of the German speaking insurance law colloquia. By sharing with me his major publications he kept me informed about developments in the border area of European and German insurance and financial law. At all these occasions I obtained the chance of getting better acquainted with the tendencies of legal research in Germany, an experience that I still consider as a privilege. Above all I thus came into a position where I could appreciate and admire his brilliant intellect and vast knowledge and enjoy the extraordinary warmth of his friendship.
