Like us plants need ‘food’ in order to grow and reproduce. ‘Food’ refers to all the matter that plants must obtain from the environment to complete their life cycle. This mainly includes O2, CO2, water, inorganic nutrients (e.g. N, P, K), and some low-molecular-weight organic matter (e.g. amino acid, urea) present in the environment.
