Genetic engineering of insects to inhibit insect pest reproduction
摘要
Genetic biocontrol for suppresion of pest populations refers to a general approach in which sterile pests, or fertile pests with specific genetic factor(s), are released into wild populations to reduce reproduction and hinder population growth. Thus, the pest itself is the control agent. The type of genetic biocontrol is determined by the mechanism of the genetic factor, which can reduce population size. There are several schemas, some simple and some more complex.
