The safety and biosecurity of poultry farms in the USA and around the world are critically important issues. The prevention of both poultry-borne zoonotic diseases and diseases affecting poultry is a vital aspect of maintaining the health and well-being of both poultry, the individuals involved in the production of poultry products at pre-harvest and post-harvest stages, as well as consumers of poultry meat. Farm biosecurity serves as a comprehensive framework encompassing all the necessary measures and actions taken to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases in poultry farm environments. Its primary objective is to keep causative agents of diseases, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, and other microorganisms, away from birds, farm environments, and workers at various levels (Gržinić et al., 2023; Hedman et al., 2020; Hafez and Attia, 2020). Farm biosecurity incorporates a wide range of measures involving a combination of physical, operational, and management practices that work in unison to establish a multi-layered defense system (Huber et al., 2022; Alarcón et al., 2021).
