Weed management within this framework is crucial, and the limitations of traditional herbicide-dependent methods have spurred interest in alternative strategies. Although permanent soil cover offers weed-suppressing benefits, it does not completely eliminate weed growth (Dorn et al., 2015). Herbicides are often promoted as a solution for reducing weed pressure both before and during crop growth. While nonchemical measures exist, alternatives to herbicides for in-crop weed control in CA systems are limited.
