This chapter directs our attention to the politics surrounding some of the diseases associated with aging. These are conditions that disproportionately affect women, though men are also at risk. The problems of the elderly are often defined in gender-neutral terms though the majority of the older population is female. Specific diseases of aging are discussed as are the groups involved in trying to effect changes in the policy process. Finally, caregiving, disproportionately provided by women, is discussed.
