Women’s reproductive health care includes puberty, pregnancy, child bearing, and menopause. None of these conditions is a disease. This chapter explains the positives and negatives surrounding the medicalization of women’s reproductive systems. It also discusses attempts that have been made to demedicalize contraception, the evolution of women's reproductive health care and the emphasis on surgical delivery of newborns (Cesarean sections).
