Transnational Habitus: Epistemological and Methodological Considerations
摘要
The previous chapter addressed how scholars have taken up transnational habitus as an analytical linchpin in their work. We sought to delineate some of the main approaches to date and ask some provocative questions. In this chapter, we are interested in focusing on the epistemologicalepistemological considerations which we consider integral to the interrogation of theorytheory. Addressing epistemologyepistemology explicitly is important as how transnational habitus is operationalized and has implications for how we understand transnational experiences. Furthermore, in considering the epistemological underpinning of transnational habitus we are compelled to confront the questions of what we specifically mean by a transnational habitus through focusing on what it offers us as researchers. As we engage with struggles to define transnational habitus, we critique the feasibility of a model of transnational habitus while also considering what we feel is integral should such a model be developed.
