Introduction

This book engages with the empiricalempirical and theoretical literature on the concept of “transnational habitus” where we focus on its potential as an analytical tooltool. At its core the book engages with conceptual questions regarding how sociological theorytheory has the capacity to enhance how we understand the social world, particularly with regard to transnational social spaces. We write this book with three interwoven aims: critiquing a transnational habitus, mapping transnational spaces of classificationclassification, and analysing transnational selves drawing on reflexivityreflexivity. The introduction provides a broad overview of how Bourdieu has been influential in transnational studies foregrounding the tool of habitus and what analytical purchase it may offer to scholars of education and migrationmigration. We also set forth the structurestructure of the book.
