Edler de Roover, Florence
摘要
Born December 15, 1900, in Chicago, Illinois, Florence Edler received all three of her degrees from the University of Chicago, concentrating on medieval history and economics. While Edler is relatively little known today, her importance only acknowledged in very specific fields, like the history of insurance, the work of her husband, Raymond de Roover, has become canonical in early modern economic history and the history of economic thought. Cose examination of Edler’s papers and those of friends, discussions with former students, and de Roover’s published work reveals, though, that much of the revolutionary scholarship attributed to de Roover was in fact originated by Edler.
