Sustainable Practices in Agriculture and Environment
摘要
For many centuries, agriculture remained a practice based on experience transmitted from generation to generation. Nonetheless, in recent years, there has been a steady trend toward integrating various types of technology in farming. Starting with the simple hand tools (such as hoes), which have been developed in the Stone Age, through to the development of cast-iron plows and cotton gins, these inventions can be considered the first signs of technological development in agriculture. The following stage of innovation in agriculture can be associated with the use of new machinery that facilitated farming significantly. The seed drill, thresher, and mechanical reaper were some of the first machines to ease the work of farmers and increase their production rate.
