Real Implementations

Linux-based OSs can be installed within extremely diverse systems, starting from a normal desktop (or laptop) PC, passing to smartphones, WiFi access points, smart TVs, or into very unexpected locations like trains, electrical cabinets, or medical devices. In these last devices, we must be sure that the system can be recovered and updated reliably without any user intervention (or at least with very little specialized support). To achieve this, all the system components must be carefully placed in the system’s mass storage device (or devices) in order to guarantee a reliable and secure recovery or update.
