摘要

Platforms do not build themselves. Despite the excitement around code generation and AI-assisted development, platforms are built by teams, and the way those teams are organized shapes the platforms they create. Conway observed this in 1968 [2]. Team Topologies [1] by Skelton and Pais gives us a vocabulary for deliberately designing team structures that enable fast flow. Combined with product management principles, these concepts create platform teams that deliver genuine value. This chapter covers three interconnected areas: structuring platform teams using Team Topologies patterns, applying product thinking to platform development, and understanding interaction modes between platform and stream-aligned teams. While working at Google, Thoughtworks, and Xilinx, we have seen these patterns succeed when applied thoughtfully and fail when applied dogmatically. The frameworks here are guides, not prescriptions.
