Metric Design and Variance Reduction
摘要
In Chapter 2 , we built the statistical engine of experimentation. Now, we turn to one of the most critical and often overlooked aspects of the entire process: designing the metrics that fuel this engine. The choice of metrics is not a mere technicality; it is the bridge between a business objective and a statistical hypothesis. A poorly chosen metric can lead an experiment to declare victory for a feature that ultimately harms the business, while a well-designed metric provides a clear, reliable signal of true value.
