The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) represents the integration of physical machines, sensors, and systems with the internet, enabling real-time data exchange and analytics. IIoT improves operational efficiency, predictive maintenance, and decision-making in industries like manufacturing, logistics, energy, and more. A critical component of IIoT is the communication systems that support seamless, reliable, and secure data transfer between devices. This chapter explores key communication systems in IIoT, with a particular focus on optical wireless communication.
