Software permeates every aspect of modern life. It's everywhere and in everything we use. Developers of the past would dream up scenarios where software might be used. Twenty or thirty years ago, coding books used hypotheticals to illustrate concepts; one of the most memorable examples was a coffee pot that ran a Java program. Today those hypotheticals have become a reality. Refrigerators, televisions, and even the lights in our homes are “smart” devices connected to the internet, exchanging data without us even realizing it. Modern cars are flooded with electronics that run software for entertainment, driver-assist features, and performance monitoring.
