The first part of the book covers neural networks, a computational metaphor for how the brain operates. This chapter, the first of the second part of the book, focuses on evolution. In particular, it covers the genetic algorithm, a computational metaphor for how genetic information is recombined and passed across generations. This algorithm models the basic principles of natural evolution.
