In the previous chapter, Kubernetes was introduced as the orchestrator that coordinates containers at scale. However, before Kubernetes can do anything useful, there must be containers to orchestrate. This is where Docker enters the picture. Docker became the catalyst that pushed containers from a niche technology used by large tech companies into a mainstream tool that developers and operations teams could adopt in their daily work.
