New Features in Java 25 LTS at a Glance

Java 25 LTS (Long-Term Support) was released in September 2025, replacing its predecessor, Java 21 LTS, after approximately two years. In the meantime, minor releases in the form of Java 22, 23, and 24 were published every six months. While you should not expect many new features in these interim releases, a lot has happened overall since the release of Java 21 LTS. In this chapter, I would like to deliver an overview of the new features introduced cumulatively with Java 25 LTS in the form of so-called JEPs (JDK Enhancement Proposals). The following chapters cover the significant enhancements from Java 22 to Java 25 LTS in detail.
