You cannot always publish the changes directly to the customers. Often, you wait until the customer requests for the updates. Various industries, platforms, and businesses use this approach. There is nothing wrong with letting the user continue with a specific version—even if that is one or two versions behind the current latest. One quick example is a shopping cart. While you need to ensure the latest version of payment gateway is running, but a shopping cart is nothing more than a container. It contains the list of all the items the user is interested in purchasing. I cannot stress enough how many times users leave a checkout experience just because their shopping cart list was inaccurate.
